Founded in 1995, Adjutant Workshop, Inc. develops political campaign software for candidates, political action committees, lobbyists, and others in the field of politics. The emphasis is on the “nuts and bolts” of maintaining an effective, smoothly running operation by providing you with the tools necessary to do the job quickly and efficiently.
The primary objective is to provide customers with easy-to-use software that will:
- Help the customer comply with applicable laws
- Build a solid database of contributors and supporters (or those a committee supports)
- Enter data one time to meet the needs of most campaigns
- Create data files for electronic filing of reports as well as hard copy reports
- The program design objective is simplicity and ease-of-use.
Campaign ToolBox handles the statutory reporting requirements plus the internal reports, data checking, volunteer tracking, and other features that most campaigns will need. What the program includes or doesn’t include is based on my own experience as a candidate, treasurer, and campaign staff member as well as comments and requests from current customers. “Features” are not added simply because it sounds like a good marketing point. It is designed for customers who understand that campaign software is simply a tool to help win an election; more features and complexity does not mean more votes.
For a bit of history, in 1996, there was one approved software vendor for Florida – Adjutant Software. In early 2011, the DS-DE website showed 12 approved vendors. By October 2011 after the Florida Division of Elections made some massive changes, the number had dropped to just 3. We were the first ones in, and we may be the last ones out. In November 2012, we changed our name to Adjutant Workshop, Inc. from Adjutant Software, Inc. to reflect the idea of building tools and to continue the “ToolBox” metaphor.
“Anything that is complex is not useful and anything that is useful is simple. This has been my whole life’s motto.”
